APNC Updates

April 20, 2022

The past two months has been a time of expectancy, perseverance and “living by faith, not by sight,” (2 Corinthians 5:7) for our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC). As we review candidates for NCPC’s next Associate Pastor (Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries), we continue to hold unswervingly to our belief that God knows the person that He will call to us, and we are just doing the work that it takes to discern who this is. We have been in discussions with some encouraging candidates, but along the way God has made clear, either to us or to the candidates, that He has not yet revealed the person He will call to NCPC. A fresh new group of candidates has recently come our way, and we continue to review these with expectancy of God’s plan, and commitment to the job we as a committee are charged with on behalf of you, our Congregation. We approach each new candidate with excitement, asking the question, “Is this the candidate God wants to call to NCPC?”

As we have worked, we have come across some challenges. The cost of living in our area, and the general shortage of workers are realities that our pastoral search is not exempt from. Our committee is doing our best to persevere through these challenges by making some changes to our Ministry Information Form (this is how candidates view our church and job description), by adjusting how we approach candidates, by seeking wise counsel to ensure that we are doing everything in our power to hear God’s call for the next Associate Pastor, and most importantly, by setting aside time for devoted prayer as individuals and as a committee, as we listen for God’s call and ask for wisdom in our discernment.

We cherish your important role in our partnership: prayer! Please continue to keep our committee in your prayers; that God will lead us in clear discernment. Please also pray for the next Associate Pastor; that God will make His call to NCPC clear to this individual.

With Gratitude,

Your NCPC APNC

Our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC) is grateful and excited.  We are so grateful for the faithful prayers of our Congregation, and we are excited that God is answering those prayers because we can see his faithfulness as each step of our process moves along.  Thank You!

As a quick review and reminder.  When our new Associate Pastor is hired, they will be leading our Youth Program and facilitating our Children’s ministries.  They will also be supporting Pastor Kurt through occasional preaching and congregational care.  Our NCPC Session has prayerfully defined this job description with multigenerational ministry as a priority.  What a blessing it will be to have this leadership amongst us!

Our APNC is in the early stages of reviewing Personal Information Forms (PIF’s) submitted by potential Candidates.  We are excited to say that at this stage, we are encountering some very encouraging Candidates.  The next step for these encouraging Candidates is to respond in writing to some deeper questions that our APNC created.  We are excited to go a little deeper with some Candidates as we receive and read their responses.  Please continue to pray for both  our Committee and our future Associate Pastor, as we prayerfully listen for and discern God’s calling on the individual that He has chosen to serve our NCPC Family.
