This year’s stewardship theme is about MAKING CONNECTIONS on the journey of faith. Connecting deeper into our covenant relationship with God. Committing to continue travelling along the journey of faith with fellow pilgrims in the North Creek congregation.
Picture being in the main hall of a railway station or international airport. You look up at the reader board and see an amazing array of options. And then it dawns on you – you won’t get to your desired destination by remaining in the station weighing your options. You need to make a connection with a specific train or plane to begin moving forward. God’s people have always been presented the opportunity to make a connection with God amid a vast array of options, a decision to continue journeying forth with God as God’s covenant people. One such moment happens at the end of the Old Testament book of Joshua.
“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Joshua spoke these inspiring words to God’s people at a crucial moment in their journey with God, and the people responded by renewing the covenant relationship. Now that God had led them to the promised land, they committed to continuing to walk with the Lord in worship & service. Recalling God’s great faithfulness, we embrace our covenant commitment at this moment in the life of our congregation, choosing to serve the Lord by offering our time, talent, & treasure. In this stewardship season and beyond, may we respond to Joshua’s call to stand up and joyfully say: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!”
